Wentworth Drops CCC Match at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. Freshman attackman Mo Sison (Warren, Mich.) tallied four goals and two assists to help pace Gordon to a 9-4 win over Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference play.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net through the first 13:01 of the contest before the Fighting Scots broke the ice with a goal from senior midfielder Dan Perednia (Granby, Conn.) with 1:59 left. The Leopards evened the score when sophomore attackman Steve Glover (Marstons Mills, Mass.) scored with 35 ticks left in the opening stanza.

Gordon got the lone goal of the second quarter when Sison gave the hosts a 2-1 lead with 19 seconds left before halftime and a six-goal third quarter gave the Fighting Scots an 8-1 lead after three. Sison had two goals and two assists during the third quarter.

Wentworth scored three goals in a span of six minutes to trim the lead to 8-4, but would get no closer as Sison rounded out the scoring with a marker with 3:49 left.

Perednia finished with two goals, while freshman Austin Long (San Diego, Calif.) was 8 for 13 at the face-off X. Junior Houston Zemanski made nine saves between the pipes.

Glover finished with two goals and an assist and junior Mark Pappas (Worcester, Mass.) had a goal and an assist. Junior Jared Proulx (Nashua, N.H.) made 13 saves.

Gordon wins its third in a row to improve to 5-5 (3-2 CCC) and travels to the University of New England on Wednesday. Wentworth falls to 1-6 (0-3) and is at Endicott on Saturday.
