Queens No Match for Third-Ranked Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. Queens traveled to face Rollins College this afternoon, falling 21-6 to the Tars. The Tars are ranked third in the nation this week and now sit at 13-0 on the season. The Royals drop to 5-8 on the year.

Brittany Barnwell and Kristi Kemp led the Royals in scoring with two goals apiece. Kemp also led in draw controls as she and Brittany Philip each collected five. Danielle Horoschak took the loss in goal after notching 11 saves.

Erica Pagliarulo and Sarah Showell each recorded a hat trick for the Tars, while six others notched two goals each. Elyse De Lisle took the win in the net after getting eight saves.

After Kemp of Queens scored the first goal of the game 23 seconds into play, Rollins put three points in a row on the board. Queens next goal would come at 20:23 when Philip assisted Barnwell on a goal making the score 3-2. Two more goals would come from the home team followed by two more from the Royals giving the game a 5-4 score with 12:19 to play in the first. Rollins then closed the half with a 4-0 run to widen the margin at the break.

The second half was controlled by the Tars as they found the back of the net nine times en route to building an 18-4 lead with 12:57 to play. Kristine Kapatos would end the Royals' drought putting the ball in the cage at 9:40. Rollins would follow that score with three of their own before Kemp notched the final point of the game with 37 seconds left on the clock.

The Royals were outshot 43-16 by the Tars this afternoon, while winning the battle for draw controls 16-13.

Queens will face No. 15 Florida Southern tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
