Crusaders Trip up Presidents with Strong 2nd Half

Just two minutes into the second half, Delavan was able to cut that lead to one (4-3) with a goal off an assist from Tim Pastore (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood). Reid LeDonne (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin) then made it back-to-back goals with a score with 10:10 left in the opening half, knotting the game at four.

Two more consecutive goals put SU ahead 6-4 with just under four minutes left in the quarter. Unfortunately, the Presidents ended the half with back-to-back goals themselves, making it a tie game (6-6) at the midway point of the game.

Susquehanna responded by dominating the third quarter, netting six goals while holding W&J scoreless. Breakey accounted for two of those goals as he scored two straight goals that made it 11-6 at the 3:42 mark of the period. Delavan capped off the scoring to give SU a six-goal advantage (12-6) heading into the final 15 minutes of play.

Lein continued the scoring for the Crusaders with a goal barely a minute into the final quarter. Nearly nine passed without another goal for either team before Carmen Raroha (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace) got in on the scoring action and made it 14-6 with only 4:50 remaining.

Breakey padded the lead with a goal two minutes later and while the Presidents were able to score four goals over the final 2:16 of play, it was too little too late as the Crusaders came away with the 16-8 win.

SU is back in action for its final two home games of the regular season beginning on April 11 to host Marywood at 4:00 p.m.
