"I was pleased to see us battle back in the second half, but turnovers and not winning the draw in the first half hurt us. We did a better job pushing the tempo, causing some turnovers and having a better effort on the draws in the second half, but we've got to find a way to put together a complete game," said Vermont head coach Jen Johnson.

Stony Brook took a 3-0 lead to start the game and pushed its advantage to 5-2 with 20:19 remaining in the half. Sydney Mas scored for the Catamounts to slice the lead to two, 5-3, but the Seawolves answered with six straight goals, including three from Cook, to extend SBU's lead to eight with 7:49 left in the half.

Stony Brook took a 13-5 lead into the break and held a 27-9 advantage in shots and 13-6 edge in draws in the half.

The Catamounts battled back to play the Seawolves even (8-8) in the second stanza. UVM out shot Stony Brook 13-12 and closed the gap on the draw controls (10-7), but could not get closer than six the rest of the game.
