Shenandoah Routs Bethany for Second Win

BETHANY, W. Va. - Shenandoah University completed the non-conference portion of its schedule with an 18-4 victory over Bethany (W. Va.) Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets (2-11) jumped all over the Bison (1-9) in the opening 30 minutes of play.

Shenandoah took 32 of 36 shots in the first two stanzas to take a 12-2 halftime advantage.

The bulge was 4-1 at the end of one as SU sandwiched a pair of two-goal spurts around the lone Bethany goal.

David Estoclet got things started for Coach Mike Kruger's club with an unassisted goal at 13:05 before Courtney Ledden made it 2-0 by the 10:22 mark.

The Hornets scored 10 straight goals from the 3:05 mark of the first until Estoclet finished off a Bryan Pope feed 2:45 before halftime.

Armed with the 10-goal halftime advantage, Shenandoah score the first four goals of the third to seal the victory.

Pope and Sean Mack, off of assists from Jimmy Noel and Ledden, respectively, had the only two tallies in the fourth.

Nine different men put their name in the scoring column with Ledden leading the way by posting four goals and three assists for seven points.

Pope had two goals and three assists, Estoclet four goals and Chris Frazier two goals and two assists.

SU outshot the Bison 44-12, scooped up 43 of 77 groundballs and dominated at the 'x' with 17 wins in 25 draws.

Tyler Quinn and Brett Holmes each had two saves.

Shenandoah is off until traveling to Centenary (N.J.) next Saturday for a CSAC contest.
