Diplomats Dominate Garnet for Centennial Victory

LANCASTER, Pa. Jordan Barr scored three goals to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 12-4 victory over Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. F&M improved to 8-3, 3-2 CC while the Garnet fell to 4-6, 1-3 CC.

The Diplomats scored the first four goals of the game and never trailed. Sean Kenny found Ben Ross at 10:59 in the first to give F&M an early 1-0 lead. The teams stayed off the board for the remainder of the first before the Diplomats struck three times in the first eight minutes of the second quarter.

Barr took a feed from Kevin Kilpatrick at 12:50 and A.J. Reichert scored at 8:31 to give F&M a 3-0 edge. Kilpatrick hooked up with Billy Kempner to put F&M up 4-0, before the Garnet finally found the net at 2:18. F&M answered 49 seconds later with a goal from Colin McKew to give F&M a 5-1 halftime edge.

Max Hubbard got the Garnet within three, 5-2, at 12:56 in the third, but the Diplomats responded with a 5-0 run to take a commanding 10-2 lead with 56 seconds left in the third. Kenny and Jimmy Wenk scored the first two goals and McKew assisted on the other two. The first was to Barr at 2:08 and McKew's second feed was to Harrison Jones at 1:12. Barr then scored unassisted 16 seconds later for a 10-2 F&M lead heading into the fourth.

Swarthmore managed two goals in the first seven minutes of the fourth, but the Diplomats tallied two of their own to come away with the victory. Reichert picked up his second and McKew found Keith Murray for the final tally of the game.

Andrew Setian dominated the X, winning 19 of 20 faceoffs and picking up 15 groundballs while Carlos Pelaez and Wenk both picked up four groundballs for the Diplomats.

Cameron Setian stopped four shots and improved to 8-3. Michael Brockway took the loss for the Garnet with 10 saves.

F&M outshot Swarthmore 41-17 and collected 40 groundballs to Swarthmore's 19.

The Diplomats return to action next Saturday when F&M travels to Haverford for a 3:00 p.m. game.
