No. 2 Adelphi Routs Assumption in NE-10 Play

Worcester, MA No. 2 Adelphi made quick work of the hosts at Assumption, using 17 opening half goals to seal the deal early. After tacking on another six in the second, Adelphi found themselves on the upside of a lopsided 23-8 score to advance their record to 10-1, 7-1 NE-10, while Assumption slips to 4-7, 3-5 NE-10.

Meg Brown, Erica Devito and Sara Sangiorgio combined for more than half of the Panther's scoring. In the first, between 17:08 and 3:38, Brown and Devito traded scores on four occasions to account for the bulk of the 13 goal run to close out the half. Assumption's Camille Auger broke their streak with her first of two goals on the evening. However, they rounded out their five-goal evening with a score each in the final 20 minutes of play.

Amy McNeil got the Greyhounds on the board in the first and put a temporary stop to an early opening three goal Panther run. Her two goals brought Assumption to within one at 3-2, but it would be the closest they would get. McNeil would go on to score once more before the end of the game to lead her team.

Sangiorgio notched all four of her goals within 4:43 of each other to extend the Panther lead from 3-2 to 7-3 in the first. Devan Crimi and freshman Alexa Froccaro each tallied four points on two goals and two assists. Crimi put the Panthers on the board first with two straight scores and then was credited with her two assists on a Brown and Alison Staudt goal while Froccaro split a goal and assist in each half.

Marissa Mills found the back of the cage on two occasions; the first to put her team up 3-0 and then capping the 15 goal defeat with a final score with 30 seconds left. Staudt, along with her first half goal, was credited with one helper while Danielle Jaycox and Tara Gangarosa also chipped in with a goal each. Jacqueline Williams and Melyssa Mathewson each dished out one assist as well.

Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the week, Jordann Dempsey, saw all 60 minutes between the pipes, allowed just eight goals and made five saves in the win. Her counterpart, Michelle Monahan made three saves for Assumption in the loss.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, April 14 when they host the Purple Knights of St. Michael's College at 1:00 pm on Motamed Field. Be sure to watch the game live via webcast at or follow @AUPanthers for Twitter updates throughout the game.
