Thirteen Score as Hartwick Derails the Express

AURORA, NY- Thirteen players had at least one goal for Hartwick as the Hawks defeated the Wells Express 18-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Hartwick improves their record to 6-5 overall while Wells falls to 3-7.

Phil Schaefer (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) and Harry Hughes (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) both had three goals to lead the team. Cody Ciolino (Nesconset, NY/Sachem North) scored twice. Joe Shields (Loudonville, NY/Shaker), Bobby Cassidy (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside), Mike Vaglica (Newton, MA/Newton), Roy Simmons (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius), Irvens Dupuy (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk), Ian Putnam (North Pomfret, VT/Proctor Academy), Mike Morrison (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East), Robert Storrie (Syosset, NY/Syosset), Matt Landry (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury), and Brian Finnegan (East Northport, NY/Northport) all had one each.

Schaefer also added three assists while Simmons chipped in with two assists. Cassidy, Ciolino, Dupuy, Putnam, Shields, Dane Molina (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury), and Conor McGoldrick (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) all had one helper each.

David Kaus scored twice and had one assist to lead the Express.

The game was never in doubt as the Hawks were up 7-0 before Wells scored their first goal of the game with 4:07 left in the second quarter. Hartwick would go up 16-1 late in the third quarter and 16-2 after Wells' second goal of the day.

'Wick would ease up in the fourth quarter as they score twice early in the period and Wells added a late goal with 1:26 left to play in the game to complete the scoring.

Carl Lengel (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) started the game in goal for 'Wick and recorded five saves to pick up his second win of the season.

Christopher Galluzzo started in goal for Wells and had 16 saves in 45:02 of playing time. He was replaced by Kyle Brimm who recorded four saves.

Hartwick dominated in shots, 57-20, and in groundballs, 64-37. The Hawks won 19 face-offs compared to the Express's six. On the extra-man opportunity, the Hawks were three of five while Wells was one of three.

The Hawks return to Empire 8 play on Saturday when they will face Nazareth on the road. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
