Big First Half Lifts Scranton Past Wells

SCRANTON, Pa. Sophomore attacker Kerry Sullivan (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) became the 14th player in school history to reach the 100-point career milestone as Scranton defeated Wells, 18-3, on Thursday evening at Fitzpatrick Field.

Sullivan had three goals and two assists in the win, giving her 104 points (79 goals, 24 assists). She becomes the fourth player to reach the 100-point mark this season, joining senior attacker Kaela Mahon (Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J./Saint Rose), junior attacker Deanna Giorno (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) and junior midfielder Jilliana DePaolera (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon).

Scranton raced out to a 13-2 halftime lead en route to its 10th win of the season. The Royals are now 10-3 overall, giving the program 10-or-more wins for the eighth time in its 13-year history.

Giorno had two goals and two assists and sophomore midfielder Kiersten Carnes (Montgomery, N.Y./Pine Bush) and freshman midfielder Emily Goss (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) added two goals each. DePaolera and sophomore defender Erin Green (Merrick, N.Y./Sandford Calhoun) had a goal and an assist each.

The Royals also received goals from junior attacker Shannon Howe (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River), junior defender Kristen Gieschen (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes), junior midfielder Leslie Connelly (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central), sophomore midfielder Mariah Guy (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) and Mahon. Freshman attacker Sheila Mulligan (Ardmore, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) had two assists while freshman midfielder Emily Mulligan (Sloatsburg, N.Y./Suffern) added one assist.

Wells (3-8) was led by sophomore attacker Courtney Grosser (Penfield, N.Y./Webster Schroeder), who had a goal and an assist.

Scranton returns to action on Tuesday, April 17, when it hosts Oneonta State at 7:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
