Richmond Holds on to Win Shootout over La Salle

RICHMOND Freshman Caitlyn Brostrand added five goals, but the women's lacrosse team fell 17-15 to Richmond on the road on Friday afternoon.

Richmond (7-6, 2-2) jumped out to a 10-5 lead at halftime over La Salle (9-4, 2-2). The Explorers worked back into the contest but didn't have enough time to overcome the Spiders.

The score was 13-9 with 13:38 to play after a goal by junior Melanie Sarcinello off a pass from Alanna Diffendal. La Salle would score the last two goals of the game to make the final 17-15.

Senior Megan Corliss made 11 saves in goal. Mary Flowers had six goals for the Spiders, while Caitlin Fifield had five goals.

The Explorers will return to McCarthy Stadium to play George Washington on Sunday.
