Newberry Can't Stop Saint Leo's Offensive Onslaught

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Freshman Victoria Thomas scored the Wolves' lone goal as Newberry fell 17-1 at Saint Leo on Friday evening.

Saint Leo (5-8) opened the scoring three minutes into the game, scoring six straight before Thomas drew a free position shot with 9:57 remaining in the opening half. It was from the free position that Thomas (Manhattan, Kan.) put the Wolves on the board with her third goal of the season.

Newberry sophomore Ashante Grimes (Columbia, S.C.) and freshman Tessa Davis (Triangle, Va.) led the Wolves with three ground balls. Thomas and fellow freshman Nikki Colwell (Greer, S.C.) controlled three draws each, while Grimes and Davis both forced a turnover for the Wolves.

The Wolves two-game trip to Florida continues tomorrow, when the Wolves head to Lakeland for a noon showdown with the No. 15 Florida Southern Mocs.
