Post Falters in Second Half at Wilmington

NEW CASTLE, Del. Despite trailing 7-5 at the intermission, Post suffered a 20-7 setback at Wilmington in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon. Junior Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) led Post with four goals on the day.

Three of Kanavy's four goals came in succession over a span of 4:01 in the first half. With the Eagles trailing 4-1, Kanavy leveled the score at 4-4 with 12:34 remaining in the first half. Graduate student Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, Conn.) gave Post (1-11, 0-9 CACC) a 5-4 lead on a man-up goal at the 11:15 mark. Her tally also capped a 4-0 Eagles' run.

Wilmington (8-4, 5-3 CACC) answered with 10 straight goals to claim a 14-5 advantage with 14:30 to play in the contest.

Sophomore Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) stopped the run with her lone goal of the game. Diggett found the back of the net with 14:18 to play, and she scored her 18th goal of the season.

Freshman Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) made 15 saves in goal for the Eagles, including nine in the second half. Kaitlyn Hall earned the win in goal for Wilmington and made seven saves. Ashley Kroll led the Wildcats with four goals, while two other players netted hat tricks.

At times in the contest, Post played up to three players down.

The Eagles will wrap up a three-game road trip at Georgian Court University on Thursday, April 19. The opening draw in Lakewood, N.J., is slated for 4:00 p.m.
