Trio of Hat Tricks Carry Westfield State Past Becker

Leicester, Mass. -- Maura Stack (Wilbraham, Mass.), Nicole DiPilato (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Olivia Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) each recorded a hat trick to lead Westfield State to a 21-3 victory over Becker in NEWLA action on Tuesday night at Alumni Field.

The Owls of Westfield State are now 7-5 overall and a league-leading 6-0 in the NEWLA standings, holding the top spot in the conference. The Hawks of Becker drop to 3-10 and 2-3 in the NEWLA.

Hannah Joyce (Acton, Mass.) tallied two saves in goal for the Owls, playing the first half. Karena Prescott (New Bedford, Mass.) went the distance for the Hawks, coming up with six saves.

Becker briefly held the lead when, 1:37 into the game, Ashley Mossey (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) found the back of the net to put the Hawks up 1-0. But Westfield State's Carly Keeley (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored the equalizer on the very next possession, and the Owls never looked back.

DiPilato finished with two assists in addition to her three goals, while Keeley and Amanda Bouchard (Lexington, Mass.) each finished with a pair of goals and assists each. Bridget Everett (Lexington, Mass.) and Genna Raffaelo (Chelmsford, Mass.) each had two goals on the day.

Mossey finished with two of Becker's three scores, with Morgan Hazen (Woodstock, Vt.) recording the other strike.

Becker will face their next challenge on Thursday, April 19th when they travel to Fitchburg State for a 7:00 pm game. Westfield State heads to Western Connecticut, also on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
