Oneonta State Pulls Away to Hand Royals a Defeat
SCRANTON, Pa. – Oneonta State used a big run in the middle of the game to pull away from University of Scranton, handing the Royals a 17-10 loss on Tuesday evening at Fitzpatrick Field.
The Red Dragons (10-2) went on a 9-2 run over a span of 21 minutes in the middle of the game, turning a 5-5 tie into a 14-7 lead with less than 17 minutes to play. Scranton (10-4) rallied with three straight goals, but got no closer than four the rest of the way.
Junior midfielder Jilliana DePaolera (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) led Scranton with three goals and an assist, sophomore attacker Kerry Sullivan (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) had three goals and junior attacker Kaitlin Lazorko (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) had a goal and two assists.
Senior attacker Kaela Mahon (Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J./Saint Rose) chipped in with a goal and an assist, and freshman attacker Emily Goss (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) and freshman midfielder Emily Mulligan (Sloatsburg, N.Y./Suffern) both had a goal.
Oneonta State was led by junior attacker Caroline Tulley (Malverne, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy), who had six goals and an assist. Freshman midfielder Jillian Donodeo (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) added three goals and three assists.
The Red Dragons held a commanding 23-5 advantage in draw controls and outshot the Royals, 32-29.
Scranton returns to action on Thursday, April 19, when it travels to Elmira, N.Y. to take on Elmira College at 4:00 p.m.
