Two Runs Help Bentley Down Southern New Hampshire

WALTHAM, Mass. Bentley went on runs of 5-0 and 3-0 on its way to a 10-7 road victory over So. New Hampshire Tuesday night in Northeast-10 action. Senior J.D. Ayer (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) scored four goals.

Trailing 3-1 after the first quarter, Bentley scored all five goals from five different players in the second quarter to lead 6-3 at halftime.

Ayer got the run started with a man-up goal with 3:49 gone. Senior James Gilloran (Guilford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) scored at the 7:18 mark to tie the game at three, and just 14 seconds later classmate Brendan Grant (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) did the same to give Bentley a lead they would not relinquish.

So. New Hampshire though hung around with the only two goals of the quarter from sophomore midfielder Rob Murray to make the score 6-5 going into the fourth.

The Falcons though started the quarter strong with a goal from Grant 3:04 in. That was followed up by goals from Jordan Reals (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) and Ayer to give them a 9-5 lead with 6:07 to go. Ayer scored his fourth of the night with 2:38 left to make it 10-6.

Bentley evens its record in the NE-10 to 3-3 and bumps its overall record to 3-6. So. New Hampshire falls to 3-8 overall and 3-8 in the conference.

Next, Bentley takes on Merrimack at Gillette Stadium in the New England Lacrosse Classic Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
