Grizzlies Fall to WILA-Leading Lindenwod

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Grizzlies stiffened on defense and allowed just five goals to the WILA-leading Lindenwood (Mo.) Lions after halftime Tuesday night, but a pair of goals in each half wasn't enough, and Adams State fell, 4-17.

The loss drops ASC to 0-7 overall this season and 0-5 in the WILA, while the Lions improve to 11-2 with a 5-0 conference record. The win was also LIndenwood's seventh in a row.

Lindenwood came out shooting and by the time sophomore Lexy Hamilton (Monte Vista, Colo.) put the Grizzlies on the board with 15:48 remaining in the first half, ASC still face a six goal deficit, 1-7.

The Lions scored seven times in the first 10 minutes of the game, and held a 12-2 advantage at the break.

After a dozen strikes in the first half, the Grizzlies managed to hold the LIndenwood attack to just five goals in the second, but the ASC offense was unable to make a dent in the lead. Adams State trailed by 13 before back-to-back goals from sophomore LiErin Wilson (Silverton, Colo.) and Hamilton made the score 4-15 with 16:14 remaining,

Freshman goalie Danica Kristiansen (Lake Forest, Calif.) made 10 saves Tuesday, including six in the second half as she faced 27 shots on goal from Lions.

Wilson took seven of ASC's 11 total shots in the game, while Hamilton took just two, scoring on both.

Kara Cashen and Lexi Crusha scored three times apiece for the Lions, while three other players scored twice.

Tuesday's game was the first of three the Grizzlies will play while in the Midwest this week. Adams State will return to action on Thursday for a 2:00 p.m. match-up with Fontbonne (Mo.), and wrap up their trip against Grand Valley State (Mich.) at Noon on Saturday.
