Shappell Hits Two Milestones as Rams Run by Griffins

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. It was quite a day for Philadelphia midfielder Caribeth Shappell, who reached the 100-career goal and 200-career point plateaus in the Lady Rams' 22-12 victory over Chestnut Hill in a CACC match Thursday afternoon.

Needing four goals to reach 100 and six points for 200, Shappell nailed both milestones with a four-goal, two-assist match for Philadelphia (7-8, 6-4 CACC). Her 100th career goal came on a free-position shot with 14:09 left in the contest. She is the third Lady Ram to reach 100 career goals this year-midfielder Kalin Hodel hit the century mark on March 15 and attack Emily Ray got there on April 14.

With 10:43 remaining, Shappell assisted on one of Ray's seven goals to earn point number 200, becoming the fifth Philadelphia women's lacrosse player to reach that milestone-joining attack Taylor Peltzer who was the fourth Lady Ram to reach 200 points on March 29.

Peltzer netted five goals in the win over the Griffins (2-11, 2-8 CACC). Hodel finished with three goals, two of them coming during a five-goal spurt in the first half that gave Philadelphia a 7-3 lead. Midfielders Nicole Lijana and Carli DiCioccio added a goal and an assist each.

Christin Squillante led Chestnut Hill with four goals, while Brianne Timony recorded a hat-trick

Ellen Wright earned the win in net after stopped nine shots. Jenn Delahanty was busy in the Griffin net making 10 stops. Jessica Pennell played the final 4:04 for Chestnut Hill and made one save.

Philadelphia has a five-day lay-off before it heads to Northeast Philadelphia to take on CACC foe Holy Family Wednesday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m.
