Ithaca Powers to Sixth Straight Win, Defeats Elmira
Elmira, N.Y. – Ithaca College (9-3, 5-0 Empire 8) defeated host Elmira (7-6, 1-4 Empire 8), 18-1, on Saturday afternoon to win its sixth straight contest.
Ithaca got off to a strong 7-0 lead and never looked back. The Soaring Eagles scored its lone goal at 20:38 of the first before the Bombers put away three more to lead, 10-1, at the break. Ithaca, who had 11 score during the contest, tallied eight unanswered in the latter frame.
Senior Nicole Borisenok (Watervliet/Albany Academy for Girls) led the way with a game-best five goals and a pair of assists, while senior Racquel Lividini (Mamaroneck/Mamaroneck), sophomore Becky Guzzo (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and freshman Molly Fischer (Aquinnah, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) each found the back of the net twice.
Junior Nikki Dahl (Columbus, Ohio/The Wellington School), who scored once, had a game-high three assists with Lividini adding two.
Senior Tracy Rivas (East Meadow/East Meadow) and junior Kaitlyn Hoffay (Ithaca/Ithaca), who each had one goal and one assist, collected a game-high five ground balls, as did Borisenok and freshman Niki Standera (Penfield/Penfield).
Junior Kim Armbruster (Boonton, N.J./Montville) won a career-high nine draw controls and Fischer won six.
Junior Jess Worthman (Commack/Hauppauge) made five saves for the win in 44:14 of action. Sophomore Brittany Romano (Penfield/Penfield Central) made one stop in 15:46.
The Bombers outshot Elmira, 29-10, had 43 ground balls to the Soaring Eagles' 30 and won 15 of 21 draw controls.
The Bombers return to action on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Alfred.
