Otterbein Downs Thiel, Improves to 7-4 Overall

WESTERVILLE, OHIO Otterbein University upped its season record to 7-4 on the season Saturday afternoon, finishing out the week with a 19-7 victory at Thiel College.

The victory marks the third-straight for Otterbein, which in turn drops the Tomcats to 3-11 this season.

The game was tied at 4-4 midway through the second quarter, but four unanswered goals helped the Cardinals take an 8-4 lead at the half.

Junior Andrew Donatelli and sophomore Mikey O'Neal combined for five of the eight Otterbein scores in the opening 30 minutes.

The Cards kept the momentum on their side entering the second half, outscoring the Tomcats 4-1 in the third period for a 12-5 advantage with 15 minutes to play.

Otterbein remained in control over the duration of the fourth quarter, expanding the lead to double digits in securing the win.

O'Neal led all scorers with four goals, giving him 46 points on the season and just five shy of Donatelli's single-season mark of 51 set in 2011. O'Neal also tied for a team-best five ground balls.

Donatelli and freshman Reilly Dixon each tallied three scores on the day, while Jake Ritzenthaler and Andy Hufford combined to win 16 of 24 faceoffs.

Otterbein held a 54-23 shot advantage, including a 35-15 edge in shots on goal. The Cards picked up over twice as many ground balls (52-23) and forced 33 Tomcat turnovers.

The Cardinals will stay on the road to begin next week, traveling to Granville for a match-up with No. 8 Denison on Tuesday evening. Starting time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
