No. 2 Le Moyne Outruns the Greyhounds to Go 14-0

DePalma registered his fourth goal of the campaign 48 seconds into the final quarter. Following back-and-forth play over the next seven and one-half minutes, senior midfielder John Albanese (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) tallied his third goal of the year.

Less than one minute later, freshman midfielder Alec Westerhoff (Lagrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township/Bridgton Academy) scored in transition after sophomore defenseman Eric Galanis (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) cleared the ball off a missed Assumption shot. Albanese capped the game's scoring with 3:08 left by finding the back of the net from the goal line extended on the left side.

Junior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) made two saves in 37:08 between the pipes, while yielding one goal, to earn the victory. Will Contento suffered the loss after giving up eight goals in the first quarter, while making thee saves.

Le Moyne (14-0, 10-0 NE-10), which honored the 10 members of its senior class prior to the game, closes out the regular season on Saturday at Saint Anselm at 11:00 a.m. With today's victory, the Dolphins clinch the Northeast-10 Conference regular season title for the 12t time in the last 13 years. A win next Saturday would mark the12th time in the last 13 campaigns that the Dolphins finished the NE-10 portion of their schedule undefeated.

Syracuse, N.Y. (April 21) -- On Saturday afternoon in Syracuse, Assumption College dropped a 22-2 final to No. 2 Le Moyne in Northeast-10 play. With the loss, the Hounds fall to 2-10 overall and 1-7 in Northeast-10 play. The Dolphins remain undefeated at 14-0 overall and 9-0 in the league, clinching the regular-season title.

Le Moyne led by an 8-0 margin after one quarter before freshman Ty Martina (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) got the Hounds on the board to open the second period with his fourth goal of the season. The Dolphins kept up the offensive outburst though and led by a 10-1 margin at the halftime break.

Le Moyne opened the third quarter with six straight goals to lead by a 16-1 spread before freshman Garrett Smith (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) ended the scoring run with his 25th goal of the season to make it a 16-2 score with 5:09 left in the third period.

Leading 18-2 heading to the fourth period, the Dolphins added four goals in the fourth quarter to account for the 22-2 final score.

Sophomore Matt Palubicki (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) took the loss for the Hounds in net as he split time with freshmen Will Contento (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) and Tommy Carmichael (Wayland, Mass./Wayland).

Assumption is back in action on Wednesday evening, hosting Saint Anselm for a 7:00 p.m. start at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
