Pacers Nip Cyclones to Clinch Top Seed for CSAC Playoffs
With the score 9-8, Marywood scored two of the next three goals, rebuilding the lead to 11-9. Allie Swartz scored the Cyclones goal in between Pacers' scores.
Bay and Bruce, two of Centenary's seniors scored two goals within :30 seconds of one another to tie the game for the first time since 0-0. Unfortunately for the Cyclones, it would be the last time as well as Marywood went on a run, scoring five of the next six goals, with a single Centenary goal by Bay mixed in. The Pacers now possessed a 16-12 lead midway through the second half.
The resilient Cyclones snapped back, scoring the next three goals. Bruce scored off a pass from Swartz with 12:49 to go, followed with Swartz scoring a goal of her own in a man-up situation a few minutes later. Bay then scored off a free position shot with 6:50 remaining to bring the score to 16-15.
Marywood, undefeated in CSAC play and feeling Centenary's momentum scored with 3:17 remaining to retake a two goal lead. The lead was only save for :18 seconds however as Judd scored with just under three minutes left to once again close to within one goal.
With the Pacers holding a one goal lead, Marywood responded to Judd's goal :30 seconds later with the game's final score, giving Marywood a hard fought 18-16 win. Despite the valiant effort, Centenary drops to 9-4 on the season and 5-3 in CSAC play. The Cyclones will host the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday, April 24th at 4:00 pm in a makeup from last week's postponement.
