Career Day for Higgins Leads Oberlin to a Rout of La Roche

Pittsburgh, PA Rookie Sean Higgins scored a career-high six goals to guide Oberlin College to a 17-7 win over the La Roche College Redhawks on Saturday afternoon.

All in all eight different Yeomen scored at least one goal in the win. Behind Higgins, Dan Fineman checked in with three, while Mickey Fiorillo and Thomas Cool each added two. Thomas Hake chipped in with three assist, while Cool and Ted Palis dished out a pair of helpers as well.

The Yeomen jumped on the RedHawks early and never really let up throughout the 60-minute contest. Oberlin scored the first eight goals of the game, before LaRoche scored two times in the final 15 seconds of the half to make it an 8-2 game at the break.

However, the Yeomen would score the game's next nine goals to put the game out of reach for good. The run of goals featured the first collegiate score for rookie Brain Schupack as well the first-career goal for sophomore Kirby Livingston. Livingston also matched Cool with a team-high five ground balls.

The Redhawks did fight all the way to the end, scoring five times in the final five minutes of action.

Erickson Andrews played all but the final nine minutes of the game in the cage as he made 12 saves on the day.

Oberlin returns home to host Kenyon College on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m.
