No. 2 Cortland Escapes with Two-Goal Win at Fredonia

FREDONIA, N.Y. Junior Maria Di Fato (Camillus/West Genesee) scored four goals and added an assist to help lead the nationally second-ranked Cortland team to an 8-7 victory at Fredonia St. in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Red Dragons improved to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference to move into first place. The Blue Devils droppd their first league game of the season and fell to 12-3 and 6-1.

Senior Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) tallied three goals for Cortland, sophomore Taylor Robinson (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) scored a goal and senior Erin Kollar (East Islip) and freshman Marilyn Farrell (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) contributed two assists each. Junior goalie Shauna Hutchinson made two saves.

Katie Kleine led Fredonia St. with five goals, while Morgam McNamara and Amy Simon each scored once. Goalie Casey Chiesa stopped 13 shots.
