#5 Davenport Gathers Wins over #14 Hope, #16 Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. No. 5 Davenport outscored No. 14 Hope College 7-2 in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Flying Dutchmen for a 16-9 win. Jack Turcotte led all players with four goals while five other Panthers tallied at least two goals.

The Panthers came out of the gate a little slow and Hope took advantage scoring the opening goal 2:35 into the quarter for the early 1-0 lead. Davenport responded by scoring two goals, by Dominic Boggiano and Jack Turcotte, over the next several minutes to take a 2-1 lead. After Hope scored with five minutes left in the first, Davenport came back with a Cody Cross goal to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead after one.

Once again, Hope took advantage of a slow start by the Panthers in the second and scored the first three goals of the quarter to take a 5-3 lead, their largest of the game. With 35 seconds left in the half, Jack Turcotte scored his second goal of the game to pull the Panthers within one heading into halftime.

Jack Turcotte got the Panthers started in the third with a goal less than two minutes into the quarter. Then after a Hope goal, the Panthers responded with three straight goals by Taylor Keyworth, Parker Horvath, and Nathaniel Adkins. Hope broke the Panthers run with a goal with just less than three minutes to go in the quarter. Boggiano added his second goal to close the third quarter and give Davenport a 9-7 lead after three quarter of play.

Davenport outscored Hope 7-2 in the fourth quarter getting goals by Jordan Richtsmeier, Jack Turcotte, Cody Cross, Taylor Keyworth, Parker Horvath and two by Lyle Parks. The Panthers outscored Hope 12-4 in the second half to pull away.

Jack Turcotte led the team with four goals while Taylor Keyworth, Lyle Parks, Dominic Boggiano, Parker Horvath, and Cody Cross each tallied two goals. Jordan Richtsmeier led the team with three assists. Parks and Boggiano also recorded two assists.

Zach Higgins picked up his fifth win of the season after recording 12 saves on nine goals allowed.

With the win, Davenport clinches the CCLA North Division for the second consecutive year.


FORT WAYNE, Ind. No. 5 Davenport held off a stingy Indiana Tech team 16-14 to wrap-up the regular season. With the game tied, Davenport scored three of the last four goals to get the win. The Panthers finish the regular season at 11-4 overall and 6-0 in CCLA play.

Cody Cross got the Panthers off on the right foot scoring the first two goals of the game in the opening minutes of play. After Daniel Hume scored 4:30 minutes into the first quarter, Davenport held a 3-0 lead.

No. 16 Indiana Tech finished the first quarter with four unanswered goals and continued that streak with a goal to start the second quarter. But Davenport would battle back and match the Warriors five-goal run with one of their own. Dominic Boggiano, Lyle Parks, Jordan Richtsmeier, Daniel Hume, and Jack Turcotte each had goals during the Panther run.

Indiana Tech broke the Davenport run with a man-down goal with just over two minutes to play in the half. Cody Cross scored his third goal of the game with 17 second remaining in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 9-6 halftime lead.

The third quarter was low scoring compared the first half. Cross and Boggiano added to the Davenport total early in the third, pushing the Panthers lead to five. Indiana Tech responded with two goals to close out the third and cut their deficit to three.

After Indiana Tech scored two more goals to start the fourth, the Panthers came back with goals by Jack Turcotte and Taylor Keyworth to maintain a three goal lead. But the Warriors wouldn't go away and scored three unanswered goals to pull even with the Panthers with just over seven minutes to play in the game.
