Lenhardt Leads Westfield Past Worcester

WESTFIELD, Mass. Freshman Stephanie Lenhardt scored a game-high five goals and senior Carly Keeley had four goals and an assist to lead Westfield State to an 18-3 victory over Worcester State on a frigid and blustery Friday night, April 27.

The Owls concluded their regular season with an 8-7 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA). Westfield, the No. 2 seed, will host Framingham State in the NEWLA Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, May 2, at 6:00 p.m.

The Owls led the Lancers (3-12, 3-5) at halftime, 12-1. Westfield also played a strong defensive game, led by the stellar play of goalie Jill Robinson. She recorded nine saves, including four of five sensational saves.

Nicole DiPilato, one of four seniors honored prior to the game, continued her fine 2012 season by scoring four points (3 goals, 1 assist). Freshman Bridget Everett and sophomore Sarah Giardino both tallied two goals and an assist. Everett notched a game-high six draw controls while Keeley had four draw controls and three ground balls.

Daryl Powell led Worcester with a goal, seven ground balls and three draw controls.
