Presidents Celebrate Senior Day with Victory over Thiel

WASHINGTON, Pa. Six different Presidents scored goals as the Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team earned a 13-3 triumph over Thiel College on Senior Day Saturday at Alexandre Stadium.

The W&J five-woman senior class won its 45th game since arriving on campus four years ago. The Presidents upped their season record to 11-3 and were victorious for a season-best sixth game in a row.

Thiel (4-9) scored the first two goals of the game, but W&J dominated from that point. After allowing the second goal six minutes and 23 seconds into the match, the Presidents' defense did now surrender another goal until 12 ticks remained on the clock.

W&J led 5-2 at halftime and then scored six goals during a 12-minute span in the second half to seal the win. Junior attacker Megan Kelly (South Park, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) scored three times in the second half to fuel the offense.

Junior midfielder Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) added three goals and one assist for the Presidents, who held a 30-13 shot advantage. Senior midfielders Brittney Oake (Bell Meade, N.J./Montgomery Prep) and Liz Turcik (Ligonier, Pa./Miss Halls School) both netted two goals and Turcik added two assists.

Junior goalie Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) earned the win in goal after making eight saves.

The Presidents close their regular-season schedule on Tuesday when hosting Otterbein at 7:00 pm.
