Jaspers Fall to Siena in Season Finale

Manhattan (5-9, 1-5) looked to slow down the up-tempo Saints attack and as a result of the pace, the teams combined for just 20 shots in the first half. Nonetheless, Siena took a 4-1 lead into the lockerroom and in the second half things would open up further.

The Saints scored six times in the third quarter which proved to be more than enough to pull away and post their seventh straight win over the Jaspers.

Martinsen finished with a hat trick and five assists, pushing his scoring streak to 31 straight games. Meanwhile, the nation's leading scorer Bryan Neufeld did the rest of the damage on offense adding six points. Tom Morr posted 11 saves, allowing just three goals.

Brian McGrath paced Manhattan with two goals and an assist as the Jaspers concluded their 2012 campaign with a fourth straight loss.

With the win, the Saints completed another undefeated conference season and have won 30 of their last 31 MAAC Regular Season games overall.

The win also pushed the Saints into double digits for the sixth straight year. Prior to 2007, Siena had won 10 or more games just twice in the program's first 43 seasons. Over the last six seasons, the Saints have won 67 games the sixth highest total in the nation trailing only Duke, Virginia, Cornell, Notre Dame and Syracuse.

Siena now turns its focus squarely to the conference tournament where it begins its quest for a third MAAC Championship in the past four years. The winner of Friday night's game takes on the winner of the first semifinal between No. 2 seed Detroit and third-seeded Canisius at noon on Sunday.
