Redlands Advances to SCIAC Title Game over Pomona-Pitzer

On the heels of six unanswered scores, University of Redlands pushed past the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens by a score of 10-7 in Saturday's semifinal game of the 2012 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship Tournament.

The Bulldogs now face Occidental College in Sunday's final at 1:00 p.m. in Eagle Rock.

Amidst a defensive battle against the Sagehens, the Maroon and Gray trailed by a score of 1-3 midway through the opening period.

The teams traded scores before Redlands' sophomore attack player Allie Hoffler (Salt Lake City, UT) recorded her second goal of the game with less than four minutes left in the period, cutting the deficit to one.

After the break, the Bulldogs took over on offense with five consecutive scores to start the second stanza. Senior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA) headlined the effort with two of her three goals, while junior attack player Aimee Dewan (Alamo, CA), sophomore midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) and sophomore midfielder Jacky Craycraft (Trabuco Canyon, CA) each found the back of the net.

Dewan kept the victory firmly in tact with back-to-back goals for the Bulldogs in the final 10 minutes.

In addition, senior goalkeeper Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA) made five stops between the pipes for her 14th win of the season.

Craycraft led the Maroon and Gray's showing on draw controls with four and junior midfielder Katie Colasurdo (Eugene, OR) forced three Sagehen turnovers.

As a team, the Bulldogs dominated the ground balls with 24, compared to Pomona-Pitzer's 16.

With today's triumph, Redlands ties the program record for wins in a season, matching the feat originally accomplished by the team in 2000.
