Canisius Upends Fairfield to Capture the MAAC Title

Chmil led the Stags offense with three goals, while Mangan and Best each scored twice on the afternoon. Melanie Raso had five of the Stags 11 draw controls and tied for the team lead with two ground balls.

Katie Keenan made nine saves on the afternoon in playing the entire game in net for the Stags. Kayla Scully earned the win for Canisius, making four saves in playing the full 60 minutes.

Keenan, Tara Lynch and Penta were named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team.

Morgan and Leonard both scored four times and had an assist, while Carly Quinn scored twice and handed out three assists. Oosting finished with three goals and an assist, as well as seven draw controls.

The Stags posted a program record fifth consecutive campaign with at least 13 wins and the third-best winning percentage, 76.5. The Class of 2012 completes their careers as the second winningest class in program history with 56 total victories, four MAAC regular season titles, a perfect 24-0 MAAC regular season record and were members of the Stags first-ever NCAA tournament team.
