Adams State Drops Season Finale at Fort Lewis

DURANGO, Colo. - Sophomore Amanda Hisel (Littleton, Colo.) scored all three of Adams State 's goals as the Grizzlies closed out their 2012 season with a match-up against Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) foe Fort Lewis, falling 3-22.

The loss concludes the Grizzles' season with an overall record of 1-10 and a 0-8 mark in the WILA. ASC's win, which came against Fontbonne (Mo.) on April 19 was the first in program history. The Skyhawks finish with records of 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the WILA, good for third place in the league standings.

Fort Lewis, led by sisters and Abby and Ally Kvidera, led 9-0 after 10 minutes of play. The Kvidera sisters accounted for five of the Skyhawks' early goals, and six total, in the game.

Hisel scored her first to put Adams State on the board with 14:41 left in the first half. Assisted by sophomore LiErin Wilson (Silverton, Colo.), the goal cut the FLC lead to 11-1. The Grizzles managed to take just four shots in the first half, and put three of them on goal, but FLC keeper Genna Waugh made two saves in the first half and sent the game into the break with the host team on top 16-1.

The two second half strikes from Hisel came at the 24:28 and 14:47 mark, lifting her season total to eight goals, tied for fourth most on the team. Wilson, with her third assist of the season, bumped her season point total to 21.

Freshman keeper Danica Kristiansen (Lake Forest, Calif.) faced 35 shots on the goal, all but five of which were on goal, and made eight saves Sunday.

In their second season, the Grizzly women's lacrosse team netted 73 goals this spring, more than double their total from the inaugural 2011 season.

Sophomore Lexy Hamilton's (Monte Vista, Colo.) 24 goals and 27 points both set new single-season ASC records, while Wilson's 18 goals also best the standard set last spring. Kristiansen, who played all 660 minutes in the net for ASC this season and recorded 110 saves, is the owner of the Grizzlies' first program win.
