Dartmouth Pulls Away to Down Holy Cross in Season Finale
After Kennedy gave the Crusaders a 4-3 lead with the first goal of the third quarter, the Big Green responded with two straight goals to make it a 5-4 contest. Morici then tied the game at 5-5 with a man-up goal off a pass from Kennedy with 6:59 left, but Dartmouth netted two consecutive goals for the 7-5 advantage. Hannan made it a one-goal game when he scored with 14 seconds remaining off a pass by senior Colin McGeehin (Newtown Square, Pa.), but the Big Green then scored five straight fourth quarter goals for the 12-6 final.
Sophomore goalie Kenny O'Connor (Latham, N.Y.) made nine saves, while Fergus Campbell posted 12 saves for a .667 save percentage for the Big Green. Dartmouth outshot Holy Cross, 39-34, while the Crusaders picked up 34 ground balls and the Big Green secured 32. The Crusasders won 16 of 22 face-offs. The Crusaders went 2-2 on extra-man opportunities and the Big Green went 4-11.
