Pacers Advance to CSAC Final with Win over Centenary

The Pacers went on a run of four consecutive goals over the next six minutes, taking a commanding 6-1 lead with 17:14 to go in the first period. Centenary made certain they were not going to let the game get out of hand, however, as Rebecca Balfour (Randolph, NJ, Randolph) scored two consecutive goals to bring the Cyclones within three.

Unfortunately for Centenary, as was the case all game, Marywood would respond to Centenary's back-to-back goals with a group of goals itself. The Pacers scored four straight goals, all from Diana D'Achille to send Marywood up 10-3 with under ten minutes remaining in the first half.

Again, Centenary fought back. This time the Cyclones received goals from Allie Swartz (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) and Danielle Bay (Phillipsburg, NJ, Phillipsburg) to cut into the Pacers' lead, making the score 10-5. Marywood answered with a goal, but the Cyclones continued to fight their way back into the game with another two goals from Balfour and Bay respectively to get within 11-7. Marywood would add a goal with just over :30 seconds to go in first half to push the score to 12-7 headed into the intermission.

The Cyclones came out of the break making their halftime adjustments pay off, scoring two consecutive goals, and three of the first four goals of the half. Hannah Ally (Phillipsburg, NJ, Phillipsburg) scored just over two minutes into the second half followed by a Meredith Bruce (Bridgewater, NJ, Bridgewater-Raritan) goal six seconds later to bring the score to 12-9. After Marywood added its goal, Swartz scored her second of the game to close to within three goals again at 13-10.

The Pacers went on another run, scoring four in a row to increase their lead to 17-10. The Cyclones would again get a pair of goals from Bay and Balfour to close to within five, but Marywood was able to go on a roll, eventually scoring seven of the final ten goals to come away with a 24-14 win.

The loss brings a close to the Cyclones' season, ending with a 10-5 record. With the win, Marywood will advance to the CSAC Tournament Championship this weekend.
