IWLCA Poll for Women's Division II - May 7th

The Adelphi Panthers returned to No. 1 this week, taking over the top spot from NE-10 rival Le Moyne, the team that had supplanted them at No. 1 two weeks ago. Both the Northeast-10 and PSAC claim five schools each, while the ECC boasts a pair of schools in the top-15. Bloomsburg, the 2012 PSAC champion, moved into the rankings at No. 12 while PSAC finalist Mercyhurst returned to the poll, landing at No. 14.

All five NE-10 schools sit in the top 10. The league is led by No. 1 Adelphi and No. 2 Le Moyne; Stonehill moved up to No. 6 while New Haven moved to No. 8 and Bentley held at No. 9.

With the addition of Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst, the PSAC also has five ranked institutions. West Chester leads the way at No. 7. Lock Haven just edged Bloomsburg for the No. 11 position, and Mercyhurst came in at No. 14, just in front of No. 15 Gannon.

The ECC has two teams in the rankings, starting with C. W. Post at No. 5 while ECC Champion Dowling moved into the top-10 at No. 10. Limestone from the Conference Carolinas moved up to No. 4. Two Florida schools remain in the poll, with Rollins picking up a pair of first-place nominations and moving up to No. 3. Florida Southern rose one spot to land at No. 13.

The NCAA tournament starts on Saturday with C. W. Post hosting Adelphi and Limestone welcoming West Chester. Rollins will face the winner of the Limestone/West Chester match-up next week in the semifinals, while Le Moyne will take on the winner of the Adelphi/C. W. Post game in the other semifinal.

The IWLCA poll has no bearing on the selection or seeding in the NCAA tournament.

This is the eleventh weekly poll for the IWLCA for the 2012 season; the next final poll will be released May 28.

The rankings are available at IWLCA Division II Poll. This link as well as those to other polls can be found on the Polls page.
