No. 9 Stevens Nips Springfield in NCAA First-Round OT Thriller

Hofrichted knotted the game back up at 11s just 20 seconds into the final quarter, unassisted, and then gave Stevens the lead with his fifth and final goal of the game five minutes later with 9:43 remaining, 12-11.

The offenses went silent for over nine minutes until the Pride made one final push down the field and earned a dead ball spot in their zone. After the Springfield attack looped around the back of the net, he found a cutter across the face off the goal and sent in the equalizer with eight ticks left on the clock to send the game into extra time.

Springfield's face-off specialist won 21 of 29 chances and scooped up 14 groundballs but overshot an attack on a pass as he brought the ball into the offensive zone to turn the ball over to the Ducks and subsequently end the season for the Pride.

Dorne's left handed missile lifted Stevens to the next round and a showdown with 18-0 Cortland on Saturday. Stevens met up with the Red Dragons in the Second Round last year and lost, 10-3.
