Merrimack Signs Four More for the 2013 Lacrosse Season

NORTH ANDOVER, MA Merrimack has signed four more players to the class of 2016, inking a total of 11 student-athletes for the fall.

"The Merrimack Men's Lacrosse program is very proud to announce the seven student athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to join our class who will be joining us in the fall of 2012," said head coach Mike Morgan who will enter his sixth season in 2012.

"This is a group of skilled, hard working athletes, all from great high school programs and we are excited as a staff to welcome them to our program. The success of Merrimack College as well as the lacrosse program continues to allow us to recruit all over the country. Our staff is looking forward to have such a great group joining our roster next season"

In 2012, the Warriors finished with a 13-3 overall record, advancing to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game for the fourth consecutive season, the longest active streak in the conference. The Warriors defeated the Adelphi Panthers in the conference semifinals by the score of 13-12 before falling in the Championship game to the Le Moyne Dolphins 10-7.

The 2012 Warriors featured six All-Conference members including Player of the Year, junior Greg Melaugh (Billerica, Mass.). Corey Lunney (Little Silver, NJ), Mike Perdie (Wading River, NY), Jimmy Holland (Billerica, Mass.) and Brandon Waiter (Westport, CT) each will return to the Warriors next season with the only senior who received the All-Conference nod, Peter Schielke (Ridgefield, CT), will not return. Lunney and Melaugh finished first and second in goals on the season with 45 and 44 respectively.

Trevor Gallagher, Attack/Midfield (Simsbury, CT./Simsbury H.S.)
2011 All Conference CCIAC ... 2012 captain ... .four year starter ... 36 goals and 15 assists as a junior

Morgan on Gallagher: "Trevor brings a great inside and outside game to the table. He has the ability to beat his man as well as finish inside. Trevor brings a good lacrosse IQ and will fit in nice with our offense."

James Caruso, Midfield, (Needham, MA./ Needham H.S.)
2011 and 2012 starter for the Rockets ... 15 goals and 6 assists as a junior

Morgan on Caruso: "James if your old school two way midfielder who also faces off. He has the ability to score on offense, play solid defense at the midfield as well as do very well at the face-off X."

Thomas O'Neil, Midfield, (Hingham, MA. /Hingham H.S.)
2011 and 2012 varsity starter for the Harbormen ... 68 groundballs and 14 assists as a junior

Morgan on O'Neil: "Thomas is a great between the lines midfielder. He is solid on ground balls and a very skilled defensive midfielder. Thomas is very athletic and can really do a good job between the lines."

Jake Jednorowicz, Defense, (West Hartford, CT. /Canterbury School )
2010 Defensive MVP ... lead team with most groundballs and caused turnovers ... Missed 2011 due to injury ... 2012 leads team with 25 groundballs

Morgan on Jednorowicz: "Jake has a good combination of size and skill at the defensive end. He has the ability to push out on the perimeter and is great on ground balls. After missing 2011 due to injury, he has come along and is again playing at the high level."
