Siena Inks Eight Recruits to Letters of Intent for 2013 Season

A 5'4" attack and midfielder, Ruchalski joins the Saints from Sacred Heart High in Rockville Centre, N.Y. A four-year varsity performer, Ruchalski led Sacred Heart to a 16-4 record this spring and a CHSAA Class AA Title Game appearance. Ruchalski played her club lacrosse for Team Elevate.

"Ashley is a versatile player and has a strong work ethic in the midfield," noted Duffy. "She is able to transition and push fast breaks which will help our transition game next year."

Smith is a local product from nearby Menands, N.Y. where she plays midfield at Shaker High. Smith recently led the Blue Bison to the Section II Class A Championship and on Saturday tallied a pair of goals in Shaker's Class A Regional Finals win over North Rockland. In 18 games so far this season, Smith has tallied 85 points on 57 goals and 28 assists in leading Shaker to the state championships for the first time in school history. On May 13, Smith was named the NewsChannel 13/Dunkin Donuts and Times Union Large Schools Player of the Week. Shaker's Student Government President, Smith is a US Lacrosse High School Academic All-American and also plays for Metro Club.

"Lauren has a true understanding of team play and creativeness on the offensive end," said Duffy. "She is always a double threat and is going to fit right in to our program philosophy. Lauren has an incredible work ethic that is contagious."

A 5'8" defender from Garden City, N.Y., Stutzmann recently led Garden City High to its eighth straight Long Island Class B Title. Under her leadership, Garden City is currently ranked 14th nationally in the Powerade FAB 50 National Rankings and will play in the state semifinals this weekend. Stutzmann played her club lacrosse for the Long Island Yellow Jackets.

"Liz is going to be a great addition to our defense and draw teams," said Duffy. "She has great field vision and a strong presence on the defensive end. She comes from a strong winning program and will help us build our tradition."

The octet joins a Siena program that recently advanced to the program's third straight MAAC championships appearance.
