Final 2012 National Ratings for High School Girls' Lacrosse
McDonogh School (MD) is the LaxPower High School Girls' Lacrosse National Champion for 2012.
LaxPower, the world's leading authority on lacrosse team performance ratings, is pleased to announce the National Coaches/Computer Ratings for high school girls' lacrosse for the recently completed 2012 spring season.
McDonogh School, Owings Mills (Md.), is LaxPower's national champion for 2012. The Eagles, who capped off a 18-0 season by winning their 4th consecutive IAAM-A title, finished in first place both in the coaches' poll and in the computer ratings. McDonogh had 14 of 15 first-place votes among the coaches. This is the eighth season in a row that they have finished in the Top 10.
McDonogh has run its unbeaten streak to 69 consecutive games, including two wins in this season's MD-NY Challenge, which featured the Top 4 teams from the 2011 season, while ending Garden City's 54-game win streak.
Moorestown (#2) and coach Deanna Knobloch won their 19th state championship this spring. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School's (#3) coach Kathy Jenkins celebrated her 600th win earlier this season.
The top five programs in the country for 2012:
#1: McDonogh School, Owings Mills, Maryland (18-0) — IAAM-A title (4th straight)
#2: Moorestown, Moorestown, New Jersey (26-0) — New Jersey state champion (19th time)
#3: St. Anthony's, South Huntington, New York (16-1) — CHSAA Class AA champion (5th straight)
#4: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School, Alexandria, Virginia (26-3) - ISL AA & VISAA I state championship (6th straight)
#5: Century, Sykesville, Maryland (18-1) 3A-2A state championship (6th title)
The final rankings were compiled using LaxPower's CCR rating formula, which combines the national computer rankings with a national poll. The computer ratings used for the rankings are based on 20,506 game scores for 2,697 high school teams. The poll is a product of rankings by 15 high school coaches from around the country. Each of these parameters represents 50% of the final tallied results.
