Emmanuel College Announces Inaugural Recruiting Class
Franklin Springs, GA - - Emmanuel College Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Patrick Johnston has signed 19 student athletes to national letters of intent which will be the foundation for the inaugural lacrosse team in 2012-2013. The recruiting class consists of over 10 team captains and players from five different states and one1 province.
"We are blessed to have such a dynamic group of young men to choose Emmanuel and our lacrosse program, and I want to welcome each player and his family to our Emmanuel Lions Lacrosse Family" said head coach Patrick Johnston.
"These guys bring a lot to Emmanuel on and off of the field which was our emphasis for building the foundation of a successful program. Their character in the classroom and in the community is as strong as their talent on the field. This is an exceptional group of young men that are making history here, and each student athlete brings something unique to the team which will make their mark on our program and our school for years to come."
There are two goalies, four defenseman, nine midfielders, and four attackman.
Trey Andrews, Attack (Williams HS; Burlington, North Carolina): a 5' 9", 185 pound attackman that lettered three years at Walter Williams High School under coach Hugh Fiery, Andrews led his team in goals and in points his sophomore and junior year. He also was a two-year team captain, and played in Greensboro's 2012 Triad All-Star Game. Andrews played club ball for the Alamance War Dogs.
Anhminh Andrew Bui, Defense (Grandview HS; Centennial, Colorado): at 5'11" and 200 pounds, Bui started at close defense under coach Stephen Deschryver for the Grandview Wolves where he lettered two years and started in his senior year. In 2012, Bui had over 30 groundballs and led the defense in that category which helped him earn All-Conference Honorable Mention. Bui also played four years with the Denver Lacrosse Club.
Michael Campbell Jr., Midfield (Ragsdale HS; High Point, North Carolina): Campbell is a 5'11", 170 pound midfielder that lettered and started three years at Ragsdale High School for coach Rick Hall. Campbell captained the 2012 Tigers while also being named the Ragsdale High School MVP and earning a spot in the 2012 Triad All-Star Game. Campbell's club team was the Triad Blackhawks.
Robert Evans, FO and Midfield (Ocoee HS; Ocoee, Florida): Evans, a 5'7" and 155 pound midfielder and face-off man, played for Ricky Kaetzel at OHS. Evans won over 59% of the face-offs he took his senior season and earned himself a spot in the Orlando East-West All-Star Game.
Chris Gonzalez, Defense (East Ridge HS; Clermont, Florida): Gonzalez is a 5'10", 230 pound close defender that lettered three years in lacrosse and two years in football at East Ridge High School. Coach Craig Shaffer awarded Gonzalez the 2012 ERHS Coach's Leadership Award.
Chad Hanks, Attack (Paul Anderson HS; Marietta, Georgia): a 6'1", 180 pound lefty attack from Paul Anderson High School, Hanks came up in the youth lacrosse programs of Atlanta and attended both Walton High School and the Blue Ridge School before matriculating to PAHS.
Zach Howe, Attack/Midfield (St. Thomas Aquinas; Vancouver, British Columbia): Howe is a 6'2", 180 pound attack and midfielder from Vancouver, British Columbia. Howe captained his North Shore Indians box lacrosse team, and played for the Burnaby Devils U-19 field lacrosse team. Howe attended St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Secondary School where he played basketball and earned MVP for the team. He also captained the North Vancouver Minor hockey team, and he played football for the North Shore Wolverines and was named Offensive MVP for the Wolverines and was chosen to play in the Lower Mainland All-Star football game.
