Ohio Valley Names Corey Struss New Head Lacrosse Coach

VIENNA, WV (July 12, 2012) - Corey Struss has been tapped as the new head coach for Fighting Scots men's lacrosse, announced OVU Athletic Director Dennis Cox. Struss replaces Carl Anderson, who accepted a management position in Alliance, Ohio.

Struss came to OVU last fall to pursue a graduate degree in curriculum and development. He joined the OVU lacrosse team as a graduate assistant and has worked with the team's defensive unit and recruiting. The success of his efforts in recruiting will be evident this fall as the Fighting Scots expect to welcome to campus a lacrosse squad of over 30 athletes.

Struss completed his undergraduate degree at Seton Hill University (Greensburg, Penn.) where he also played lacrosse for the Griffins.

"I could not be more excited about this opportunity," Struss shared. "I recruited a lot of these students. Serving as their head coach will be an honor."

"Corey will make a great head coach as OVU lacrosse moves forward," outgoing Coach Anderson observed. "My feelings on leaving at this point are bittersweet; but I know I am leaving the program in very capable hands."

The Fighting Scots lacrosse team will open its spring 2013 season as a member of the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Lacrosse Division.
