Gannon Announces Its 2012-2013 Lacrosse Recruiting Class

ERIE, Pa. Gannon head women's lacrosse coach Lindsey Lowman has announced the addition of six student-athletes to the program. All six newcomers have decided to continue their academic and athletic careers at Gannon in the fall of 2012.

The recruiting class includes Morgan Basler (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy), Kelsey Bright (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo), Paige Darby (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central), Amanda Frey (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore), Becky Hilker (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central Secondary School) and Carly Shaw (Somers, N.Y./Somers).

"We are extremely excited about this incoming class," said Lowman. "This is a talented group and all of these young ladies can make an immediate impact on the field. It's an aggressive and competitive group that knows how to win. We expect them to help continue the program's success and tradition."

Gannon, ranked fifth in the final two NCAA Division II South regional rankings last season, finished 12-6 overall and 9-2 in PSAC action. The Lady Knights entered the postseason as the PSAC regular-season co-champions after trying Lock Haven and West Chester for first place in the conference standings.

Lowman's club won 12 matches for the fourth consecutive season, reaching double digits in wins for the eighth straight campaign. The Lady Knights finished one victory shy of the school's single-season record for victories. The 1998 and 1999 teams hold the single-season record with identical 13-2 marks. The team's nine conference wins also represented the most during the program's four years in the PSAC.
