2012 Catamount Classic-Lacrosse for a Cure Set for Oct. 6-7

The 2012 Catamount Classic - Lacrosse for a Cure is scheduled for October 6th and 7th at Thayer Academy's off-campus turf fields in Braintree, Massachusetts. Over the last four years the event has tripled in size, has donated nearly $130,000 to cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and handed out thousands of cancer screening and prevention information booklets to young adults all over the United States. This year 28 lacrosse teams will take to the fields throughout the weekend to help fight the battle against cancer and raise awareness for cancer screening and prevention.

On Saturday, October 6th, nine women's teams will play up to four games each with 20 minute running halves. This year's teams include Boston University, Brown, Bryant, Central Connecticut, Holy Cross, Marist, Siena, UConn, and Vermont.

On Sunday, October 7th, 19 men's teams will play at least two full length scrimmages. This year's teams include Brown, Hartford, Holy Cross, Hobart, Providence, Siena, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Vermont, American International, Bentley, Endicott, LIU Post, Merrimack, New England College, Pace, Southern New Hampshire, Springfield, and Saint Michael's.

Due to the tournament's growth, the Catamount Classic is changing its name to the Northeast Classic in 2013. The organization will also host a Vermont Benefit Concert at Nectar's in Burlington, Vermont on September 25th and a Lacrosse On The Links Golf Tournament, Saturday, September 29th at the Williston Country Club in Williston, Vermont.
