Elms College Sinks Saint Joseph (CT), 19-7

CHICOPEE, MA, April 6, 2006 - Elms College junior attacker Carrie Allard (Springfield, MA) and senior attacker Holly Stevens (Spencer, MA) combined for 12 goals as the women's lacrosse team notched its first win of the season, 19-7 over St. Joseph College Thursday afternoon in a non-conference game at Leary Field.

The Blazers improved to 1-8 for the season, while the Blue Jays dropped to 0-4 overall.

Allard netted seven goals for the contest, bringing her season total to 14 in only four games played. Stevens chipped in four of her five goals in the first half, helping the Blazers take a 12-4 lead into the intermission.

Junior attacker Jillian Jacobs (Douglas, MA) and sophomore defender Caitlin Childs (Hingham, MA) added three goals apiece to help lead Elms College to the win.

Senior goalkeeper Sheila Murphy (Holyoke, MA) stopped 14 shots for the Blazers in the victory.

St. Joseph freshman center Stacey Fredrickson (South Windsor, CT) and junior defense wing Meg Fuller (Southington, CT) chipped in three goals apiece to lead the way for the visitors.

The Blazers will take to the road Tuesday, April 11, to take on Lasell College in a New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLAC) match up. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
