Gallion Promoted to Full-Time Assistant Coach at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University has promoted former volunteer assistant lacrosse coach Sarah Gallion to full-time assistant.

Gallion joined the Dolphins last season as a defensive coach and paid big dividends in a short time on a team known for its scoring prowess.

"She made an immediate impact,'' coach Mindy McCord said. "I don't micro manage the staff or team and she thrived with that structure. She is someone everyone loves and the team confides in on a daily basis. I am pumped to have her in a full time role now.''

During the final eight games of last season, including the playoffs of the National Lacrosse Conference, the team never allowed more than nine goals a game and in that span held opponents to a paltry 5.5 goals per game.

The Dolphins ended the year eighth in the nation in caused turnovers, tied for 13th in scoring defense (nine points a game) and 14th in ground balls.

"I am very excited to keep on with the team and having a little more responsibility,'' Gallion said. "It's a cool thing and I'm really excited.''

Gallion will continue to work with defense and take on a variety of other duties in her new role.
