Ron Garling Joins the High Point Lacrosse Coaching Staff

HIGH POINT, N.C. Ron Garling has been named volunteer assistant coach for High Point University, head coach Jon Torpey announced. Garling comes to High Point from Lafayette College, where he was an assistant coach for two seasons.

"We are very excited to have someone with Ron's experience and work ethic join our program," Torpey said. "Ron has coached with and played under some of the most well respected coaches in the game. He has extensive ties to the Philadelphia area which will be a huge benefit to the program as we focus on that region in our recruiting efforts."

Garling served as the offensive coordinator for two seasons at Lafayette College. He coached two players named to the Tewaaraton watch list, which honors the best male and female collegiate lacrosse player every year. Garling also coached Lafayette's all-time leading scorer, Tom Perini.

Prior to his time at Lafayette, Garling was the offensive coordinator for Cabrini College for one season. While with the Cavaliers he coached two All-Americans and five All-Conference players.

He has also coached the Leading Edge Club lacrosse team and Fever Lacrosse Club for the last two years.

Garling played for Drexel and was a three-year starter for the Dragons. He helped Drexel to the CAA Tournament in three of his four seasons and made it to the title game as a junior.
