Cornell Women's Lacrosse Announces Recruiting Class of 2016

Taylor Kotas | Sunnyvale, Calif. | Saint Francis HS | 5' 6" | Bay Area Wave
Kotas comes to Cornell as a four-time scholar athlete at Saint Francis High, a three-time First Team All-League member and a team captain as a senior. She won the Varsity Lacrosse Coaches Award in 2010 and played for the Northern California team at the U.S. Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament in 2011. Kotas was also part of teams in 2011 and 2012 that won the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League championships. Also a standout field hockey player, Kotas is one of the fastest players in the 2012 recruiting class. Her speed and aggressive style add to her potential in the midfield.

Brittany Marriott | Chatham, N.J. | Chatham HS | 5' 6" | Steps Blue
A three-time state champion in high school (2010-12), Marriott comes to Cornell with a stellar resume. She was an Academic All-American in 2011 and 2012, was named to her All-County First Team in 2012, and was a team captain as a senior. The U.S. Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament saw Marriott participate as part of the North New Jersey Team in 2011. Marriott has excellent fundamentals and a sound understanding of both offensive and defensive strategy. She is a versatile player who could contribute in a number of positions on the field. She also spent time on the soccer field in high school, playing two seasons for Chatham as a midfielder.

Shelby McNeilly | Skaneateles, N.Y. | Skaneateles HS | 5' 7"
McNeilly was the top goal scorer at Skaneateles High for two years, a captain as a senior and a member of the All-CNY Second Team in 2011 and First Team in 2012. She also earned Academic All-America honors once, twice won a league title and racked up 164 goals in her career. A fast and aggressive midfield player, McNeilly should challenge for a spot in the midfield right away. Besides lacrosse, McNeilly played three years of soccer as a defender and spent one season on the indoor track team as a sprinter at Skaneateles.

Olivia Mattyasovszky | Wakefield, R.I. | South Kingstown HS | 6' 0" | Metacomets Select
Mattyasovszky enters Cornell with two state championships under her belt, as her teams won the DIII Rhode Island titles in 2009 and 2010. She was the MVP of both championship games those years, was named All-State in 2011 and 2012, and was a six-year captain for her club team, Metacomets Select. Mattyasovszky also played in the U.S. Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament for the Lower New England squad in 2011. A player with exciting strength and size, Mattyasovszky has a great attitude and will be expected to fight for a spot on attack as well as Cornell's draw control unit. Apart from lacrosse, Mattyasovszky was a talented athlete on the volleyball and basketball courts. She was a four-year setter and outside hitter at South Kingstown and served as volleyball captain in 2011. She also played two years of basketball as a center and forward.

Jessica Schwab | Bryn Mawr, Pa. | Harriton HS | 5' 6" | Phantastix Purple
An Academic All-American as a senior, Schwab was a talented recruit coming out of Pennsylvania. She made the Central League Second Team her junior and senior years as an attacker and midfielder. Schwab also took part in the U.S. Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament, playing for a Philly team in 2011. A skilled player with a terrific offensive game, Schwab's dodging and finishing ability will allow her to compete for time early in her career. During a four-year high school career on the soccer pitch as a forward, Schwab also made honorable mention teams in 2008 and 2009.
