Greensboro Names Katie McConnell Assistant Lacrosse Coach

Greensboro College women's lacrosse head coach Rob Bickerstaff announced the addition of Katie McConnell to the coaching staff. McConnell will join the staff immediately in preparation for the 2013 season.

"I feel very fortunate and thankful to have been given this opportunity," said McConnell. "I am very excited to join the Greensboro College lacrosse program and look forward to working alongside Coach Bickerstaff. I hope to bring a new perspective to the program through my playing and coaching experiences."

A native of Cinnaminson, NJ, McConnell graduated from Lock Haven Universtity (PA) in 2012 with a degree in Sports Administration. She was a three-time women's lacrosse team captain at Lock Haven, helping the Lady Eagles to three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships.

McConnell also brings experience in the coaching ranks, having served as a student assistant at Lock Haven and as the head coach of the South Jersey Select club team. In addition to her coaching duties with The Pride, McConnell will also work in the campus Reynolds Center as a Building Manager.

"We are really excited to have Katie joining our family here at Greensboro College," said Bickerstaff. "Her experience on the lacrosse field and as a leader is something we look forward to incorporating into our program. We really liked Katie due to her defensive expertise and her background of competing deep into the NCAA tournament during her time in college. We are very fortunate to have Katie on our staff and look forward to her helping us excel as a program."
