St. Andrews Adds 29 as It Prepares for First Year in MCLA

Laurinburg, NC - The Knights coaching staff announced today that the St Andrews University Lacrosse Team adds 29 newcomers to its roster for the upcoming 2013 season. The newcomers are comprised of 8 attack man, 9 mid-fielders, 9 defenders and 3 goalies.

"The men's lacrosse team suffered catastrophic personnel losses when the institution transferred into the NAIA. As a coaching staff, we were not deterred; we knew there were talented kids out there who want to play and want to be coached. We just had to go find them," Coach Sherman stated. "We are extremely excited to see where this 'Class of 2016' can take our program moving forward."

The Knights attack had to be completely remodeled consisting of 8 athletes from 6 different states and one Canadian Province. This brings together a melting pot of styles for the attackmen. Personnel consists of John Arvin (Lexington, KY), Matt Benedict (Victoria, BC), Jake Brown (Carroll County, MD), Matt Meek (Austin, Tx), J.D Smith (Raleigh, NC), Aaron Smith (Lexington, KY), Corey Steel (Plantation, FL), and Jason Wilson (PA).

At midfield, 9 student-athletes arrived on campus from 6 different states including Chas'ed Miller (Lexington, KY), Andrew Paxton (Sacramento, CA), Michael Paxton (Sacramento, CA), Nolan Gilmour (Portland, OR), Randy Loving (Richmond, VA), Hevin Jackson (Birmingham, AL), Vinny D'Abbraccio (FL), and Jackson Brown (Kannapolis, NC).

Comprising the poles are 9 student-athletes from 4 different states to help the Knights' talented offense including Kekoa Naipo (Milliken, CO), Malcom Blaine (Wilmington, NC), Matt Croucher (Lexington, KY), Derek Mcleod (Victoria, BC), Forest Hellebush (Lexington, KY), Storm Sheppard (Charlotte, NC), Nikolaus Brosovich, (Camp Lejeune, NC), and David Simms (Lexington, KY).

Anchoring the Knights' defense are goalies from 3 different states: Xavier Guerrero (San Jose, CA), Oscar Cifuentes (Davie, FL) and Daniel Bradley (Bowie, MD).

After taking the 2012 season off to rebuild the roster, the Knights' coaching staff is excited to welcome the Class of 2016 to St. Andrews University. The coaching staff, athletic department and University are extremely excited about what is to come from these outstanding student athletes. Watch out for the Knights this coming spring as they enter the MCLA as a varsity NAIA lacrosse program with competition beginning in spring 2013.
