Vermont Adds Browning, Cairns to Lacrosse Coaching Staff

BURLINGTON, Vt. University of Vermont men's lacrosse head coach Ryan Curtis has announced that Ryan Browning will join the staff as an assistant coach and Patrick Cairns as a volunteer assistant coach this season.

Browning comes to Vermont after serving as a volunteer assistant at Virginia last year, where he worked with the defense and faceoff unit. Prior to that he also spent one season as an assistant at Goucher College and one year as a senior assistant coach at Washington College. Browning attended Salisbury University where he was a member of the 2007 and 2008 NCAA D-III National Championship squads.

Browning will be primarily responsible for working with the faceoff unit, helping on the defensive end, coordinating recruiting and film preparation at Vermont.

Cairns is a Baltimore, Md. native who graduated from Princeton in 1997. While at Princeton, he helped lead the Tigers to three national championships (1994, 1996 and 1997). A three-year starter in goal, Cairns posted a career record of 37-3, was named USILA All-American in 1997 and was a three-time All-Ivy League selection. As a senior he led the nation in goals against average. Cairns will work with the goalies at Vermont.
