Florida Southern Adds 12 Freshmen and One Transfer for 2013

LAKELAND - With the inaugural season in the books for head coach Kara Reber and the women's lacrosse program at Florida Southern, 13 new faces have joined the program for the 2013 season that will begin in February.

"I am extremely excited about this incoming group of student-athletes. Not only did they excel in the classroom but have had excellent lacrosse careers thus far," said Coach Reber.

Reber also looks forward to the added depth to the roster and the immediate impact some of the players can bring to a team, which is coming off of a 12-4 season that ended with the Moccasins being ranked 15th nationally.

The incoming group of players hails from seven different states -- New York, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Idaho, Delaware and Pennsylvania -- and includes 12 freshmen and a junior college transfer.

Marissa Masello - D Warners, New York (West Genesee HS/Monroe Community College): Member of Monroe Community College Lacrosse Team that won NCAA JUCO Nationals in 2010 and 2011 ... Second Team All-American as a freshman ... First Team All-American as a sophomore.

Gabrielle Barowski M/D Alexandria, Va. (Bishop Ireton): Future Elite Club Team ... made D.C. Metro Team in 2011 ... helped team go to the semifinals in the Washington Catholic Area Conference in 2011 and 2012 ... State runner up for VISAA tournament first time in school history ... two time WCAC All-Conference honorable mention and 2nd team defender ... National Spanish Exam finalist.

Ashley Robertson A Ellicott City, Md. (Mount de Sales Academy): Hero's Club Team ... junior varsity captain 2010 ... Unsung Hero in 2010 ... member of National Honor Society and Math National Honor Society.

Cassie Crain M Bunnell, Fla. (Flagler Palm Coast): LaxManiax Club Team ... 2x USLacrosse Academic All-American ... team captain junior and senior seasons ... 2012 HS varsity lacrosse team MVP ... scored 78 goals and 69 assists in 2012 ... 2011 HS varsity lacrosse best all-around player ... 2010 HS varsity lacrosse best offensive player ... 2009 HS varsity lacrosse rookie of the year.

Madison Oliver M Finksburg, Md. (Maryvale Prep): Rome Club Team ... member of high school team that was ranked #3 in the nation ... Lacrosse Academic All-American ... Athletic Association Captain ... 4x scholar athlete ... senior stats included 21 caused turnovers, 26 ground balls and 2 draw controls as a defender ... Leader of PACT: Promoting Active Community Testament (a community service group) ... Maryvale Award recipient.

Taylor Oliver M Finksburg, Md. (Maryvale Prep): Rome Club Team ... member of high school team that was ranked #3 in the nation ... Lacrosse Academic All-American ... Athletic Association Captain ... 4x scholar athlete ... Member of National Honor Society ... senior stats include 23 goals, six assists, 21 draw controls, 16 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls ... Leader of PACT: Promoting Active Community Testament (a community service group) ... Maryvale Award recipient.

Grace Donovan M Boise, Idaho (Centennial HS, Capital): Utah/Idaho National Team ... placed second in Iroquois Division in National Lacrosse Tournament ... one of three Idaho players selected for the Utah/Idaho National Team ... 2x All-Idaho Lacrosse Team MVP ... senior stats include 193 ground ball pickups, 82 goals and 16 assists ... 2x Academic All-American ... selected for C.V. McClurg Scholarship at Florida Southern.
