Hartford Welcomes 14 Newcomers for 2013 Lacrosse Season

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. University of Hartford lacrosse coach Peter Lawrence and his coaching staff welcomed 14 newcomers to the Hawks' roster for the upcoming 2013 season, a class that is headlined by 10 high school standouts and four transfer student-athletes.

The Hawks' incoming class, which consists of two attackers, seven midfielders, one long stick midfielder, three defenders and one goalie, will join 27 returning student-athletes as the squad looks to make its return to the NCAA Tournament after falling one goal short of reaching the America East title game in 2012.

Jack Bobzien Littleton, Colo. Arapahoe High School Midfield
The program's first-ever recruit to hail from the state of Colorado, Bobzien, a 6-0, 165 pound midfielder, was a two-sport athlete at Arapahoe High School. Bobzien enjoyed a successful career at Arapahoe, which sports one of the nation's top lacrosse programs. During his tenure, he helped the Warriors capture a pair of Colorado state titles in both 2009 and 2012, the latter coming after a perfect 19-0 season in which he combined for 59 points on 29 goals and 30 assists. Bobzien concluded his high school career by earning two-straight First Team All-Colorado honors and more impressively, a pair of nods to the All-American Team. In addition to lacrosse, he was also a standout basketball player, leading the team to an appearance in the Class 5A state championship game. Bobzien is enrolled in the Barney School of Business.

Christian Catapano Basking Ridge, N.J. Ridge High School LSM/Defense
A 6-0, 195 pound long stick midfielder and defender, Christian Catapano attended Ridge High School where he played four seasons of varsity lacrosse. Most recently, he helped his team to an appearance in the 2012 New Jersey Group 4 semifinals. During his junior season, Ridge High School was the runner-up in New Jersey Group 3 and during his sophomore year in 2010, the squad captured the New Jersey Group 3 Championship. Also a member of the Tri-State High School All-Stars, Catapano helped lead that team to a sectional title. Catapano is enrolled in Hillyer College.

Cooper Del Zotto Orangeville, Ontario The Taft School Midfield
At 5-9 and 170 pounds, Del Zotto is a versatile midfielder who is a tenacious defender with a great passing touch and an ability to finish around the cage. A native of Orangeville, Ontario, he joins the Hawks after playing lacrosse at the Taft School located in Watertown, Conn. As a senior captain, Del Zotto scored 11 goals, collected 15 ground balls and concluded his high school career by earning a spot on the Western New England All-Star Team. Del Zotto is enrolled in Hillyer College.

Chris Duffy Willow Grove, Pa. Abington Senior High School Defense
Duffy is a 6-1, 180 pound defender who was a two sport athlete at Abington Senior High School. As a senior captain, he was named First Team Suburban One League National All-League, joining former high school teammate and current Hawk Matt Figueroa on the list. In 2011, Duffy helped the Ghosts claim their fifth-straight undefeated Suburban One National Conference championship and advance to the District 1 quarterfinals as a junior. He also earned First Team All-League honors that year for the second consecutive time and was tabbed the defensive MVP at Abington. Twice named an Adidas All-American in 2011 and 2012, Duffy also played three seasons of football at Abington. Duffy is enrolled in the College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture.
